Schröder Struggling With Warriors But Kerr Isn’t Worried Yet

Alright, here’s the tea. Dennis Schröder hasn’t exactly been killing it with the Warriors yet, but Steve Kerr isn’t stressing. It’s only been three games, so there’s no need to freak out about the new guy just yet. Chill vibes for now.

Monday night wasn’t his best moment. Dude had a rough outing, ending the game with a team-worst minus-22. He dropped 9 points on 3-for-9 shooting, dished 3 assists, and grabbed zero boards in 30 minutes. Not exactly what Warriors fans were hoping for.

"It's [Schröder's] third game with us, so it's going to take some time," Kerr told reporters after the Warriors' 111-105 loss to the Indiana Pacers on Monday at Chase Center. "But I love what I see from Dennis, just in terms of the ball pressure. I thought he did an excellent job defensively. He's a guy who is streaky as a shooter.

"I've seen him, and I know it's just a matter of time before he starts knocking them down, but there's going to be nights where shots aren't going. But Dennis is a great addition for us, and you he's going to help us win a lot of games."

Schröder’s numbers have definitely dipped since leaving Brooklyn, where he was putting up 18.4 points and 6.6 assists a game. Now? He’s averaging just 7.7 points and 3.7 assists in his first three games with Golden State. The squad’s 1-2 with him so far, so not ideal.

But like Kerr said, it’s early. The Warriors brought Schröder in to give Steph Curry some backup offensively, and there’s still time to see if he’s the right fit. The trade deadline isn’t until Feb. 6, so Golden State’s got options if this experiment doesn’t work out.
