LeBron Hits Milestone 3, But Lakers Suffer 134-93 Blowout to Heat
The Los Angeles Lakers suffered another blowout loss on Wednesday, falling 134-93 to the Miami Heat at the Kaseya Center. Tyler Herro was the star of the night, scoring 31 points, including a franchise-record-tying seven 3-pointers in the third quarter alone. The Heat took a commanding 17-point lead into halftime and dominated the third quarter, outscoring the Lakers by 16 points to cruise to the 41-point victory. This defeat follows the Lakers' 29-point loss to the Timberwolves on Monday, marking a rough stretch as they’ve dropped six of their last eight games and now sit at 12-10.
The Heat’s performance was fueled by Herro’s explosive shooting, particularly a deep 3-pointer over Anthony Davis during a decisive 9-0 run late in the third quarter. Herro outscored the entire Lakers team in that quarter, scoring 21 points to the Lakers’ 20. Jimmy Butler added 17 points and nine rebounds, while Bam Adebayo contributed 14 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists. The Heat snapped a two-game losing streak with this win, improving their record to 10-10.
LeBron James was a rare bright spot for the Lakers despite the loss. He ended his five-game drought from beyond the arc, hitting a single 3-pointer in the third quarter, which moved him into seventh place on the NBA's all-time 3-pointers list with 2,451 makes. James finished the game with a team-high 29 points, eight assists, and five rebounds while shooting 12-of-18 from the field. However, the Lakers’ struggles from deep continued as they shot just 23% from 3-point range as a team.
The Lakers' recent losses highlight their defensive struggles and inconsistent shooting. Rui Hachimura added 14 points, and D’Angelo Russell scored 12, but their efforts weren’t enough to keep the game competitive. The Lakers will aim to regroup as they face the Atlanta Hawks on Friday to close their four-game road trip.
